Hollywood is Calling is a service that allows you to get a call from a list of 65 celebrities. Erin Murphy was recently added to their roster of people who are now available to make calls. Yes, that's right - Erin Murphy can actually call you or someone else.

One thing that they don't mention on the Web site is that Erin is using this calling program as a way to support a charity she's involved with - "Courtney's Sandcastle" - Orange County's first universally accessible playground. The playground is due greatly to the efforts of the San Clemente Junior Woman's Club.

Helpful info Before Ordering the Call

Hollywood is Calling is a business - these aren't Erin's rules and there isn't anything that she or I can do to change them. Here is a list of some important information from their FAQ (it's not a bad idea to check out all the FAQs before making the order).

  • All calls last 30 seconds - be sure to have cell phones turned on or answering machines ready.

  • If you've got call-blocking, you need to turn it off - celebrities call from private numbers and they need people to respect that privacy, but they need to be able to get the call through. If you've got call blocking on, you won't get the call through.

  • If you're giving this as a gift, be sure the person is expecting a call and can be reached easily (you don't want them hanging up on the celebrity, thinking it's a prank, right?).

  • A general call costs $19.95. They have standard calls to say "Happy Birthday", "Merry Christmas", "Happy Anniversary", etc. (check the FAQ for a list of standard messages)

  • Customized messages (ones that you write) cost $29.95 - but remember, they have to be limited to 30 seconds.

  • There is a $10 surcharge for calls outside the Continental United States.

  • The call won't come as soon as you order it - the celebrity has 7 days to make the call, any time, day or night and will call according to availability.

  • You can't specify a date in the future to have the call arrive - the celebrity will call when they can.

  • If you pay by electronic check, the check must clear before the 7 day period goes into effect.
