Speaking of hot peppers... when I was living in Maryland my friend Bonnie invited me and my friend over for dinner. Her husband had made chili. Bonnie has these little deviant children, by the way...I'm all excited about chili and we take a bite and instantaneously my ears start burning horribly, my nose was like a dripping faucet and I thought my mouth, throat, and everything in that region was going to be ruined forever. Of course, Mike, Bonnie's oldest had slipped these white peppers in, three to be exact, along with the juice. It took quite some time to recover. I was very leary of ever eating there again. Of course Mike was force fed like three bowls of his concoction....

Edwina, you will love this one! About 8 years ago I was working overtime and someone offered me some of their chinese styled chicken. I forgot what they called it but it apparently had the Jalepeno peppers as. I had never heard of them and thought they were neat looking so I 'tried' one. Within a split-second, I felt as though my mouth was a disturbed bee hive! I didn't know what to do and was even getting dizzy. SOMEONE suggested milk and, of course, stunned as I was over this little garnish, I tried it. If I hadn't known this person through and through I would have declared that incident a conspiracy- as I was the house supervisor at the time- just kidding. It made for a good laugh later but at the time I didn't know what had happened to me.

Lemon, please, Edwina. I don't really need a reason to ask for it, I just like pudding! Let's just say I "dis"agreed with how the JC incident (which I hope we've all had enough of by now)was presented from one book as compared to another, and felt a calmer opinion on the subject would not hurt. Now, let's talk about something else!

I must be in my stupid mode today and didn't see it.... if you have eaten a hot pepper of course you can have pudding... by the way the family on this board is free to voice their opinions about characters... their likes or dislikes, after all we are all family here... We share our opinions without trying to tear their memories apart. I am talking about when an
outside 'idiot' "JC" for example writes junk just to fill pages in a book be it autobiography or otherwise.... I think I have given you a clearer understanding of the meaning now or at least I hope so.... Oh, witch type pudding do you prefer Polychrome? Stay Bewitched Everyone! Hugs to all! Endora, I, too, find Mr. Cooper's sexual revelations distasteful, but there is nothing of that in his recounting of dealing with our beloved Elizabeth. Whether he was honest in his account, only he can say. Since we all seem to be voicing our opinions on this subject I will say this- regardless of what did or did not happen between EM and JC, Bewitched was a fantastic show all because of Elizabeth Montgomery. Jackie Cooper knew it and at least had the decency to say so in his book. Anything else regarding him is immaterial. Edwina, may I have my pudding now?

On BW 2 nights ago, the spacecraft from?
You can definitely pick out Steve Franken as the
taller one. The N gun is for niceness. Oh ho
ole Darweed wanted to use it on Endora. What was
that spell again Aunt Clara? Did you see Gladys
peeking over the fence. Wait, where is their
house? I thought across the street but it is
actually down the street to the right and then
and then make a turn to the left. But she
can see them if she is standing in the yard and
really looking to the right. Interesting.
Where is mother partridge? Probably in the garage

Endora & Scott: I appreciate having some back up since the only thing I know of Jackie Cooper was from the Jeannie book. He sounds like an irreputable man and I must agree with Endora that, yes, EM didn't smear her eyeliner covering her 'steely blue eyes' to kick his a**!! By the way, speaking of the Jeannie book I wrote a review of it on amazon.com. I think mine is the only review.

Polychrome: I too have read Mr. Cooper's bio and found it to be nothing but a litany of all the women he slept with. His whole attitude toward women is appalling yet he seems to think, throughout the book that his non stop litany of sexual escapades is IMPRESSIVE! Most (mature) people are more concerned w/what you do than w/who you do, a lesson he obviously never learned. His bio was nothing more than a mega ego trip, and the life he portrayed was obviously lived in his own mind more than in reality. Frankly, I didn't believe a word of it then, and I don't believe a word of it now. EM did retain casting controls, she and BA did own a portion of the show (even before season 6) and they did run BW essentially the way they wanted to. Everyone connected w/the show has maintained this. Mr. Cooper can say what he wants, but that little "blue eyed" blonde kicked his a** and kept kicking it for 8 seasons, no matter what he says now. Scott: You go boy! You are oh so right!

Last night I watched Alergy to Macedonian Dodo Bird, and Endora was great. She was so funny when she pretened to be helpless. 'Oh Dobbin please adjust my pillow'. LOL And it was so funny when she refused to get Darrin's name right. (And remember I'm a Samantha/Serena fan.) And when Darrin and she were making comments about each other, poor Samantha just sat down in the middle, caught between the two of them as usual. During the episode Darrin says, 'Sam knows the rules, I FORBID witchcraft in this house.' This morning I watched 'Samantha's Thanksgiving to Remember.' Well she really loves Aunt Clara. When Darrin was annoyed that Aunt Clara was staying, Sam took no nonsense. She got annoyed, snapped her fingers and used magic to go upstairs to Darrin, and simply TOLD HIM not to be rude to Aunt Clara. This was the only relative for which Samantha took such a firm line with Darrin. BTW this thing about Sam not using witchcraft was her choice, she usually did not, but when she DID want to use witchcraft she went ahead and did it, despite Darrin. I mean to say, count the number of times she DOES use withcraft each week!!!!!

Countless e-mails have brought me here to respond to Re: The whole "jeannie"/jackie cooper biz. Okay, here goes: Regardless of how well the "Jeannie" book is written or not, isn't it just a teensy bit INAPPROPRIATE that the Jeannie book decides to use as its final chapter, an ENTIRE CHAPTER about "Bewitched"? Using glossy photos and masquerading as a "tribute" while all the time DISSING it and its star in a feeble attempt to make Barbara Eden look better than Liz Montgomery is absolutely inexcusable. Books and TV specials about "Bewitched" have never stooped so low. For a book that claims "taking sides" between the two shows is "grostesque" -- the lady doth protest too much. Otherwise, why feel the need in a book about "Jeannie" to discuss "Bewitched" so thoroughly in the vein of "we did not rip the show off EXCEPT for"..and then unapologetically leave little innuendos that Liz was nothing but a B**** ." Nice! The "Jeannie" book, in my opinion, was thoroughly delightful UNTIL it decided to end with its "Bewitched/Liz-Bashing" chapter...yuck! Pointless. Tasteless. Rude.
P.S. Kudos to "Big Dave" for being so passionate and speaking out about this!

thanks for the info dave it was much appreciated.it seems to me that we have to take what was in mr. copper's book with a grain of salt as his book is going to paint him in the best possible light to feed his ego,if bill asher ever finishes his autobiography then we will hear the full story.i suspect liz got everything she wanted but had to go thru the charade of the letter of apology & capitulation to sooth mr. copper's ego,as bill asher was the principle director & i assume choose the ass. directors & guest directors in effect thru him EM had a veto over the directors.as well she cast AM as ENDORA & i suspect thar thru bill asher & danny arnold who cast BEWITCHED she also had in effect a veto on all casting decisions.in fact i would not be surprised if her good friend harry ackerman told her "go along with this letter of apology b.s. & i as executive producer will give you every thing bill dozier verbally promised you",this seems reasonable as mr. cooper had no day to day or operational involvment with BEWITCHED.i also surmise that thier making up 5 years later was because EM crushed mr.cooper in contract negotiations when her contract was up after the 5th season when she got total creative control written into her contract as well as an amazing 50% ownership of bewitched from that point onward.she got this buy threatening to quit the show after 5 seasons as you may recall on the E SPECIAL saying she was weary of the show & the time away from her kids as well wanting to do other roles, i don't believe any of this was the case at the time(although it probably was from the latter part of the 7th season on)but was simply a superb negotiating tactic that was amazingly successful.

Big Dave,
I think you will find a more accurate account of the encounter between Jackie Cooper and EM in his book "Please Don't Shoot My Dog". The whole problem with the confrontation revolved around Bill Dozier leaving and Jackie Cooper taking his place. EM very nearly did lose Bewitched because Cooper knew her contract and was not willing to accede certain items that Bill Dozier had promised only verbally. For those who think she did the butt kicking, it was not so. EM finally sent a written apology to Mr. Cooper which recapitulated all her demands. He had it legally added to her contract, an addition she signed. Mr. Cooper goes on to say that although she wouldn't speak to him for the first five years of Bewitched, she was a perfect lady and he gives her all the credit for making the show such a success. They finally did reconcile in 1968. This account also mentions blue eyes.

AM story alert! This weekend I met someone who worked in the theater from 1974 - 1978. No, he never met AM but he did meet a man who was a friend of hers. This man was a florist and lived in Beverly Hills near AM, and he and AM used to work in her garden together. He said AM was the sweetest most down to earth person he ever met. He said she liked to work in her garden and she'd go out in front of her house in her straw hat (she must have looked so cute!) and be watering her roses and if the tour bus came by she'd just smile and wave....he also said she was one of the few people from their Beverly Hills neighborhood who didn't look down on him because he wasn't an actor.

There was another Bewitched reference on the Simpsons. I forget exactly the details, but basically a demonstration was taking place (some women who's clothes disolved into bikinis), and the reference was, it took place outside McMann and Tate's office. Anyone else remember this in more detail?

I agree, Endora. Mr. Cooper obviously didn't have much class...I forgot to mention the BW related experiences of my trip. I went with my friend, Juston, to California so he could visit his mother and she looks alot like Erin Murphy. So I just imagined myself actually hanging out with Tabatha, all grown up. It seems that Uncle Arthur and Serena took their chocolate-nut-dipped-banana making skills to Disneyland where I purchased one. They are actually quite good. Plus Tabatha, I mean Juston's mom Dionna bought me a guide to the stars homes and I found EM's former home. I didn't have enough time to actually go see it but next time I'm in California I plan on doing that...Last night's episode of 'the Simpsons' had references to BW. They were kind of derogatory though. Bart is seeing what life is going to be like in 30 years and he has done nothing with his life but mooch. When he gets back to his apartment he has been evicted and he remarks, "Man, I had a half a beer in there and Bewitched is on!" Later on when the family is eating dinner at the White House (Lisa is the first straight female pres.) Marge asks what everybody did that day and Bart says, "Bewitched Marathon." Oh well. This the third time an episode of Simpsons has had reference to the show. Once when Bart is writing on the blackboard it says "Bewitched doesn't promote Satanism" and the other reference was when Grandpa Simpson is having a kidney transplant and they show the outside of the hospital and you can hear on the intercom, "Dr. Bombay, Dr. Bombay, Come Right Away."

Class will tell right Big Dave? As far as I know EM retained cast approval, witch is why the everyone on Bewitched was so mega talented and awesome! Obviously the Jeannie people agreed, since they ended up borrowing Paul Lynde and Boyce and Hart! BTW, it sounds to me like Jackie Cooper had the attitude, not EM. It also sounds to me like EM kicked his a** w/o smearing her eyeliner, and the poor little man still hasn't gotten over it. In fact I'll bet he had his hands over his crotch the whole time he was giving that interview...not to mention her eyes were more green than blue, but being the kind of jerk he sounds like he probably never looked any higher than her chest...what a loser he sounds like. Definitely needs dungeon time!

I forgot to mention the topper to the whole magical trip, watching 'Fantasia 2000' at the IMAX theatre at the Luxor in Vegas. What a masterpiece!! I thoroughly enjoyed the yo-yo playing flamingos. And what can you say about seeing Mickey Mouse seven stories tall but 'Wait for it...wait for it...' (You must watch the deleted scenes from Austin Powers 2 on the DVD to understand). LARRY TATE: Here is what you've been waiting for. Previously I had mentioned that in the IDOJ book 'Dreaming of Jeannie' some rather insulting remarks had been made towards EM. They came from Jackie Cooper, who was V.P. in charge of Screen Gems Television during the 60's. He just says that he was 'forced into the ring with [Bewitched]s star, EM, who had delivered the first punch. The star's sudden demands in the beginning nearly got her replaced'...the author mentions that Tammy Grimes was initially to be Samantha...Jackie Cooper says that he met with EM and she stared him 'down with those big blue eyes of hers ("which could become steely blue when she wanted") and told him that without the implementation of her wishes--such as approval of directors and the cast--she wouldn't be on the show. "It's too bad," she told him stubbornly,"it would have been a nice little show." Mr. Cooper says that EM was quitting so he had his casting office begin looking for another girl and that they had prepared to make screen tests with three other women. "[He] felt this was simply a power struggle and decided it would be better to replace [EM] than acquiesce to her list of ultimatums." Then it says one day before the tests EM relented and came back and "Cooper had won the fight and 'kept everybody happy' in the end." It seems to me that they were trying to make EM look like a power hungery b*$@h and that Cooper was the reason BW ever came into existence not to mention the fact that every so often in the book they try to say that IDOJ is not a rip-off. At the end they have a section about BW and it includes a comedian's rendition of three 'lost' episodes of BW that include the materialization of Hitler, Darrin losing his genitals because of Endora, and Mrs. Kravitz being run over by Darrin because she had been turned into a cat. But I must agree with Edwina BEWITCHED FOREVER. And I must complement Herbie J. for not including disgusting remarks or a plethora of swear words not suitable for all ages like Stephen Cox did in this book. I'll shut up for now and I hope everyone has a Bewitching Weekend.

Hey there guys and gals of the cosmos!! I just returned from THE most MAGICAL Spring Break ever! I'm pleased to report that the Mouse and Crew are doing well, thank you very much. Yes, I realize that I do get a lot of magic from this board but Disney magic, well, what can one say? Where else can I have a make out with Ariel...oh, I meant to say where else can I have my picture taken with Ariel (it's just that I thought about makeouts so much). I always wished that BW had an episode where Tabatha goes to Disneyland. I always wanted to zap myself there and couldn't understand why Tabatha didn't. Or maybe Serena could go there and cause some trouble flirting with Captain Hook or some of the Princes. The Disneyland 45th Anniversary Parade was just wonderful. I cried much when I had to leave. Then we made our way to Vegas for a couple days of gambling (unfortunately I couldn't tune my metaphysical vibes in with those of the slot machines so I came home with no more than I left with). I saw that you guys were speaking about the figures from the Wizard of Oz that were set up in the MGM. Where have they gone to? We went there specifically so I could show my friend Kimberly where they were and they weren't where I had seen them last. Tituba, had I remembered you were in Nevada I might've popped over for an hour or three. No matter, I'll see you in Reno, right?

Sue L: you were so close to me yet so far away! I too remember the Oz theme...it was wonderful.
BW related - I hate to watch the last episode with my dearest Dick York....it breaks my heart to see him in that condition. I prefer to remember him so full of life.

Edwina, we were in Vegas over the weekend and
got back yesterday. I remember the OZ theme.
Oh, they had a show too. I somehow missed that.
The big ballon too.. I have some figurines from
there too. Oh yes!!! The hotel has changed too.
The theater inside is no longer there. I am sad.
It is really getting bigger with more hotels.
I saw the last DY episode yesterday. He looks
so tired. Liz is pregnant too right?

Just got some interesting e-mails about some happenings on a recent weekend. Strange things are afoot, indeed. BTW, congrats to all who have kicked the smoking habit - it took my parents quite a while to even want to quit and the years of damage to their lungs is, I'm afraid, too evident. Quit smoking as soon as possible - I know it's hard, but the problems you'll never know will be worth quitting now.

Hi All! Has anybody noticed how the editing for the first several episodes of the third season seems whack? First, different musical tags for "written by and directed by" sequence is used before settling into the one that is used the most for the rest of the season. Then in the episode where they are testing Tabitha's powers--the opening sequence has a noticeable gap where Sam is supposed to check in on Tabitha but here Sony just chops it off. Then in the Gerry O'Toole episode, they use one musical tag then quickly use the ending of another tag to start the show--weird!! Anyways--you all make me envious--you all have big plans to get together and boo hoo, I won't be able to make it(unless Endora swoops in and takes me flying!! "Fly me to the moon, Endora, my love"). Being self-employed doesn't allow much luxuries--ha! if any. Well, thank God I have a computer and free internet access and the ability to come here and be with you guys--hey, I'm blessed!--one day, maybe we'll all be able to meet. :)

Hiya guys. I went to bed upset over something, and so I had a strange dream. I wonder if any of you guys can analyze it? Jeannie and Samantha were both pregnant, and their husbands were taking them to the hospital to deliver. The thing is, I was Samantha's husband. We had to get in a plane to bring them to the hospital. What does that mean?.......Later on someone was lost in the sea, and Jeannie said she could cast a spell to find them, but she'd have to er, 'sleep' with me to do it, which as she was on her way to the hospital with her baby she couldn't do.....I was surprised she was so warm and friendly and smiling, giving the seriousness of the situation.......but you don't have to analyze that part, dreaming about sleeping with Jeannie hardly needs to be explained.!!

Edwina: I saw a wonderful display on Oz at the MGM in Vegas. They had all the wax figures too, even the witch in the forest. The Wizard was flying in his baloon way up over the casino. It was a wonderful theme but they have since replaced it. You can still see the wax figures downstairs in the mall shops.

Hi All! Hugs! Polychrome: They could be the same figurines...Dorothy, Lion, Tin Man, Scarecrow and Toto too! We saw the Wicked Witch of the East's feet sticking out of the house that fell on her. There was this really cool display of Margaret Hamilton transfering into the Wicked Witch of the West and back again... it was truly a cool sight! Okay, yes there were other stars depicted.... as well as movies... Gone With The Wind... I think I may have let a cat out of a bag here though...The Wax museum was really really cool.... Returning to my regularly scheduled program really really stinks by comparison. There wasn't anything Bewitched related and we were bummed about that!Oh...okay we were sulking and in a very deep depression it is a most horrible reality.... We consoled ourselves with the knowledge that Endora promised to put something Bewitched related in there. Oh gee I told you that already.... ohhhhh I am sounding like a broken record... a broken record...By the way folks I have a had a few queries..... asking me what BFE stands for... (Bewitched For Ever) I ummmm just Love the book ... and Bill Asher's special tribute is so special....it causes me to be (ahem) very happy... just to read his words.... therefore, I am telling Bill Asher how I feel all the time! There, now you ALL know... See you all soon and I hope to be in Reno kicking up my conservative heels too! ....(BFE) Y'all

Wow! Everybody sounds so busy! Big Dave, get the Magic Kingdom warmed up for me, I'll be there in about a month for a second honeymoon. I know this is really going to date me, but EPCOT was just a large hole in the ground when I went there for my first honeymoon. Edwina, I have a picture of the OZ characters done in wax that were part of a museum that used to be in Florida. D'ya suppose the ones you saw are the same figures? Were there other Hollywood figures where you were at? Hey Endora, I came across a Broadway LP the other day in one of the many boxes of stuff I need to go through and in it were two little pictures of AM in rehearsal for "Don Juan" and I think the other was from "Victoria". I'd have to go dig it out to get the show names right, but I thought about you when I saw the pics. Unfortunately, AM's voice isn't on the album, just the pictures in the record booklet. Hope life isn't too mundane since you and Edwina have returned to your regularly scheduled programs! :^)

HELLO EVERYONE: It's been a long time since I have posted, but I thought my news was a good reason to pop in. Last night TNT broadcasted THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS, and about 90 minutes into the show, they took time to pay tribute to all of the SAG members who passed away in the last year, and yes, SAG included a quick clip of SANDRA GOULD from the Ben Franklin episode, where she's on the witness stand. Again, it was very quick, as they had to show many other familiar faces who have also passed on, but very appreciative and very thoughtful to include this very special and talented character actress as part of their tribute. Back in September, two months after Sandra passed away from a stroke, The Emmy Awards did not include Miss Gould in their tribute segment honoring all the television actors who had passed on in the past year, and keep in mind when all these award shows pay tribute to actors who have passed on during that year, they didn't have to be a nominee or winner of any awards ceremony, just a working actor in television or film. So shame on The Emmy Awards for not remembering her and A BIG THANK YOU to SAG for rembering SANDRA GOULD. A very sweet and talented actress, a beautiful human being. You will always be remembered thanks to all your work you leave behind for us to watch for ever. You will be missed, GOD bless you always...
P.S. "And you were the BEST Mrs. Kravitz!"

Hi All! Meeting Endora was such a blast that the plane for my return trip was in queue
on the runway for what was is it Endora an hour??? I tried to wave at you Endora but the stupid system had me stashed on the other side of the plane..... Before we ventured to the Airport, we stopped in at the Wax museum.... Polychrome, Tituba, and Skip and Everyone else....Guess what we saw there? You got it! There was a section for The Wizard of OZ! It was soooooo Kewel! They had the gall not to have anything Bewitched related.... Endora is going to whip something up and put it in the museum..... I wonder if Endora will be putting a replica of Agnes Moorehead.... ya think?
Then we checked in at the airport and ate some sustenance..... Had to keep up our strength you know....Endora did take pictures of the Oz section.... By the way....we were both in one of those pictures where they put your head on this gorgeous body.... Too bad I couldn’t keep the body tee hee hee....Eating all the exotic foods, we did and the southern hospitality I guess the mortal body is going to stick around.....for a spell...
I am glad to be home and in the bosom of my family after a week.... I did have a blast kids!!
Thank you so much Endora for coming to see me... I feel so special.... Endora, you are right...
Ft. Worth will never be the same! If I am ever sent to Texas (work related) again I will try to arrange a closer to Houston flight.... By the way, I was expecting Endora to have much shorter hair..... I "heard" that our Brand of Endora has long hair and yes she does...Endora is just as funny in person as she types on the board....what you see is what you get and you know where you stand.....
I realize we are going to have to make up a Star Trek convention for "His Lordship"....in Reno of course..... He can go off to it and we can convene or shop or whatever we want to call it....
Oh, okay have a "Bewitched Convention"....Don’t forget William will be on the Today Show 3/17/00 at 6:30 A.M…. Thank you again Endora! It was GREAT speaking with the Princess too!....She laughs all the time... I love it!!!! She was probably laughing at the way I 'talk'....Texas what I saw of it.... is a beautiful state... Stay Bewitched All!!! Hugs all around (BFE)

We had a marvelous day yesterday, we flew out to visit the Ewings at their Southfork ranch. Such delightful people, especially that JR! We then went back in time to 1887 and ate dinner at the Ballard Saloon and Grill in Wylie, oh I just love the 19th Century West, don't you? It's always a delight to stop in and set for a spell....after we got back to the 21st century we decided to go for some frozen cosmos cream, Edwina got a cone to keep it in but unfortunatly the magic hadn't been completely removed from it and the cone ended up flying away before she could partake...it still blowing around Ft. Worth, even today. I got a magical malt in one of Maurice's mega Martini glasses....mmmmm trust me I didn't end up sharing that one w/Gladys Kravitz, like Maurice did that time he found out the mortal boy really belonged to the Tate's not his daughter! This morning I had my usual ravens eggs over easy but Edwina was in the mood for something different so she had Parisian Bread soaked in ostrich eggs and covered w/maple syrup and bacon on the side....naturally we also both had our morning Earl Grey and Turkish cafe au lait....now we are merely coasting, trying to determine how much trouble we can get in to in our remaining three hours in this place and time, before we must mount our airplane wings and fly back to our typical but far from normal lives.....wish wish wish every single one of you could have been here with us.....love to all and "BFE". We're here! We've been having so much fun it's a wonder we haven't been arrested! I flew in on the wing of the plane approximately four days after Edwina caught her wing and was greeted at the airport by a sexy redhead in a Bewitched Tee Shirt holding a sign that said "Bill Asher is a God!" I wish I had more vacations start out like that! We talked to Sam R last night and filled her in on what we'd been doing so far, she's probably still laughing! Today we had a late breakfast of raven's eggs over easy and have been shopping ever since....spending all our mortal money :-) After this we're on our way to a snack of chocolate covered bananas w/nuts made especially for us by Arthur and Serena (Edwina likes Arthur, but I personally wish he'd stayed on his side of the world this weekend...and forever). Wish you all (y'all for those of you from the southern part of the cosmos) could be here! Big Dave: Magic Kingdom? Like you don't already get enough magic from all your buds here!

I just wanted to toot my own horn here if I may. If you go to Amazon.com and look up 'Bewitched Forever' the first customer review is mine. Notice how many customers found my review helpful compared to the rest... Oh, I have a message from Serena too: Hey there galaxy groovers! It is my bag as entertainment chairman of the Cosmos Cotillion to tell you about the CD compilation which features my all time hit "I'll Blow You a Kiss in the Wind" sung by two swinging mortal singers, Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. It is called 'The Songs of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart'. There are other groovy songs on there as well. It's just too bad they didn't mention my name in the liner notes. I wonder how they'd feel if I turned them into an out of tune piano!....I took Serena's suggestion and purchased my copy, special order from Barnes & Noble. It is now one of my favorite CD's. I listen to it constantly. It features 'I Wonder What She's Doin Tonite', Serena's song, and 'Out & About' which they performed on IDOJ plus 15 others performed by different singers which are great songs that I didn't realize they had wrote.

I have to tell you that when Bewitched first premiered, (what back in 63 or
64), my grandmother would turn the TV off because she thought it was evil to
have a show about a witch. Now this is the same 61 year old woman who never
missed an episode of Peyton Place. Eventually, she started "letting me
watch" because she saw the man as victim and he was mortal and that was a
lesson I needed to know....I think it was the third year, she was around the
set watching the show and laughing and her favorite was Endora. My favorite
characters were Aunt Clara and Uncle Arthur, in fact I had people who would
hear my voice and say I sounded like Uncle Arthur. I remember standing in
line at the Azalea Terrace at Foley's talking with a friend and this couple
tapped me on the shoulder and said "has anyone ever told you that you sound
like that guy on Bewitched?" I just looked at them and said yeah, about a
million times, you are talking about Paul Lynde, Uncle Arthur. We all just
laughed. What pleasant memories from an innocent age gone by.

Jude: I'm not sure if the producers would've been planning on having Mary Grace Canfield as Mrs. Kravitz considering they cast her as Abner's sister. The last b&w was saved and made to be a 'Remember-when..." episode because Samantha is pregnant through most of it....WOO-HOO! New reviews and new stuff on Vic's page! Thanks guys! Before I go to look at the new stuff I must tell everyone about my dream last night. I had picked up these kids (five and younger) that were playing in the middle of our busy street and took them down to my house because their parents were no-where to be found. When I get to my house I can see that the previous owners of the house next to ours (irreputable people at that) are trying to break in and claim it back (they were kicked out.) All the neighbors are out trying to get them to leave and so the man says he is going to destroy the house if he can't have it and proceeds to take a sledgehammer to it. I hear somebody tell the Norens from across the street to call 911. I turn to see who it is and it is Samantha. She tells me after the Norens leave, 'If you want me to I'll fix the house by magic and really show those guys." And I said sure. She twitched her nose and all the broken glass and walls fell back into place, which scared the morons and they left sceaming. And Samantha says "Good!" Then I remembered I had all those kids in my car and when I went to check on them I could see that they had spilled milk and cereal and everything else inside. I was really upset and Samantha tells me, "Don't worry. Their parents are home now. I'll just zap them up to their rooms AND clean your car." and in two waves of her hands the kids disappeared and the car looked better than ever... I wish I could dream of Samantha more often.

It was 34 years ago today that Alice Pearce passed from this life to the next. Of course, she was the first Mrs. Kravitz and I must say that I enjoyed her interpretation of the character more than Sandra Gould's version.

HELLO RYAN: The above address is my current one. Thank you for inquiring, but I don't think it will last that long cause I am not very happy with the server thus far. I'm hoping to get your newsletter in the meantime and I'm glad you called me about it. How the heck are you anyway Ryan? email me at work at millsr@jothomas.com you 'son of a gun....you....'....
Now, about EM and BE...I don't know if I mentioned this before, But bare with me if I have, when I watched Rosie 0 in 98', she had Sally Field on and Sally was refering to the time when she, (starring in The Flying Nun) and BE, and EM were all in 'make-up' at the same time in the morning, and that "Elizabeth Montgomery growled at Barbara for being so perky and cheerful so early in the morning", or words to that effect...then Rosie looked startled and said, "Do you mean that Samantha growled at Jeannie?" Sally said 'yeah,'...Well fellow BW family, the way I look at it is this, if Liz was irritable first thing in the morning I think of this.....she was working an average of 70 hours a week at the time, trying to raise 3 small children all close in years, was well into 6 years of doing BW, and was well, knowing DY was leaving soon, and would it not be obvious, was feeling so much pressure that her walls were wearing thin...as far as I have heard, she was always a total professional, even to the end of her life....There's more, but I'm sure that's enough for now. Needless to say, I feel very protective towards those who cannot speak for themselves when they are gone........EDWINA?....I do sound like I am PMSing, do I not....? Anyway, Liz held alot of people together during all those years, even when she was very, very tired of it all. Our Bill Asher, I'm almost sure, would agree to that as well....

HI EVERYONE!! Wow, it's been a long time since I stopped by! I'm afraid American college life seems to take up more time than the English equivalent! What with mid-terms, roomate problems, and going to Tarheel games, I have little time for anything else! But I am enjoying myself, especially watching Bewitched every night; and now I'm beginning to realise that the year will be over all too soon, and I'll be back in England before I know it! BTW, if anyone is vaguely interested in what I've been up to this year, I have a web page with photos on: www.unc.edu/~elbourne .
PRINCESS: I saw that question on "who wants to be a millionaire" too; easiest $64,000 I have ever heard of!
For the first time I am doing a media criticism course; last week I had to do an essay on "I Love Lucy": and they call this 'work'???!! Unfortunately nothing on Bewitched yet, but later on in the semester we will be discussing how the internet has helped TV fans find each other and build up a sort of community; if possible I will be sure to give this site a mention!
Anyway, have fun, stay Bewitched, and I hope to hear from some of you soon! :)

Endora: I need to take sides with BE for a minute. I didn't mean to make it look like she was the one being demeaning to EM because she wasn't. The bad things said about EM were quoted from somebody that worked at Screen Gems at the time. Obviously somebody who wanted a little attention for raising a ruckus. The next time I post I'll have the book with me so I can be more specific. I feel bad that BE was set-up against EM because I agree, any actress compared with EM has a lot to live up to. I think pitting BW against IDOJ is ridiculous in the first place because I enjoy both shows. I always viewed IDoJ as what would've happened had Durwood not been so resentful of the witchcraft going on. Plus I feel BW was meant for an older audience and that there was some message to it. Steve Cox says that IDoJ was strictly created for fantasy fare and nothing more. I agree. And I suppose the fact that Major Nelson having a scantily clothed supernatural sexy female living with him appeals to my libido. I think both EM and BE are very beautiful women. But I would have to take EM side on the morning issue. Frankly, I am not worth speaking to before 10 a.m. and even then it is very iffy... I really enjoyed last night's episode of BW 'Disappearing Samantha'. It is one of the more spooky episodes in the series only because it deals so closely with real life. I thought that it was very spooky that Osgood Rightmire had not only control over Samantha but over Endora as well, visibility wise. I could also see by watching this episode why the producers of the show asked Bernard Fox to come back as a semi-regular warlock. He works better as a supernatural than a mere mortal.

I heard the real promble Barbara Eden had w/EM was this: BE was a morning person and EM was not. Both had early calls for their series and would often be in the same makeup room getting their hair done. BE, wide awake and chipper at 5 a.m. or so would sing and chatter. EM, not awake at all, would tell her to shut up. BE apparently resented this and from the sounds of it still hasn't recovered. Oh well. Not to mention EM was prettier than BE, and Samantha was a much better character than Jeannie. EM was hired to play Samantha because she was a wonderful actress as well as being sexy and beautiful. BE was hired to play Jeannie cause she was sexy and beautiful, that she was (and is) a good actress was strictly secondary. Plus the fact that everyone knew from day one (and still knows) that IDOJ was a BW rip off and that BE was a poor man's EM had to have caused some resentment as well. Face it, BE must have had EM's name thrown at her constantly, and probably still does (look at all the Samantha versus Jeannie contests, witch Samantha always wins I might add)! Finally, EM had a phenomenal career post BW, and that just didn't happen for BE. Frankly, I feel sorry for BE, because from day one she was set up to compete w/EM and that was a competition she just couldn't win...heck, no one could! Of course, that doesn't excuse her taking this out on EM, (I mean comeon it's been over 30 years - grow the f**k up) but it does make it somewhat understandable.

Endora: Did you hang 'Essence of Endora' at home or in your office? Just wonderin... Speaking of AM, like we always do, I purchased the book 'Dreaming of Jeannie' by Stephen Cox. A more appropriate title should've been 'Trying to prove Jeannie is not a rip-off of BW'. It's a good book if you like Jeannie and there is a whole section at the back about BW, not deragatory in anyway. But back to AM, Barbara Eden says in the book that AM was one of her fave actresses. It also said her original name was Barbara Jean Moorhead but that her mother married Mr. Huffman and Babs took on that name. There is also a picture of AM on one of the 60's talk shows. I was a little incensed at the things said about EM though. They made her look like a brat. Something was said about her almost not getting the role of Samantha because she had too many demands. I just think it proves what wonderful people fans of BW are that we don't have to spread lies about Barbara Eden, that we can enjoy BW and Jeannie as two seperate but similar things. There is also an interview with Erin Murphy in the BW section.

Today one of the new guys came by my office to ask me about a contract and the whole time we were talking he kept looking over my head and then suddenly he said "Can I ask you something? Why do you have a big picture of Agnes Moorehead on your wall?" I gave him the obvious answer "Because she's a goddess and I worship the ground she walks on", and complimented him on knowing who she was. This led to a discussion of how great she was, talk of her death due to filming "The Conqueror" on a nuclear test site etc. Shortly after he left one of the other move coordinators came through and was talking about how attractive and sexy AM was (my favorite topic!) Shortly after she left my boss called and said he'd moved me to a new area in the new office, a "primo cubicle" (his words) and he'd measured it and made sure there was plenty of room "For Endora". What a positive influence AM is on the lives of everyone she touches!

Off Topic: This is about I Dream of Jeannie, so please forgive me. But I'm on the list for BlinkTwitch, and a recent mail from Greg Weir was about a picture of Barbara Eden taken on 25 Feb. She is selling off on Ebay her own personal Trendmasters Jeannie doll. This auction is for one of her charities, DreamStreet. I had a look http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270175749
and the current bid price is $66. Bidding ends tomorrow. Now I don't know much about doll collecting, but considering this is Barbara Eden herself, her own personal doll, autographed, and it's for a charity, I would have thought the bid would be much higher?

Tituba: I couldn't agree more, especially since one of the most apt descriptions of Samantha (and one of the reason I love her even though she frustrates me endlessly) is that she has a "kind and understanding heart". This was spoken by none other than Aunt Clara, who's own heart was also extremly kind and understanding (for the most part, we'll overlook the "goose" incident for the moment), so that made it a double compliment. SCH: Look up? Look up? At who? Endora sitting on the roof, or your father, Arthur, in a tree (before I knocked him out of it). Hee hee, just kidding, I know who you mean. Congratulations on being smoke free. AM, as you know, didn't smoke, didn't drink, and didn't allow herself caffine (I was tied w/her until that last one ha ha), so I'm glad to see you're attempting to follow her example. It's a good one to follow actually, in more ways than one, but since this is family board I'll leave it at that ;-)

Hi Everyone! I know it's been a while, but I haven't forgotten about my Bewitched Buddies. There will be an update to my site very soon, I promise. One thing I would like some help on, is finding some black & white episodes that Columbia House didn't release. Not the Nick at Nite sped up episodes but some from local broadcasts in the past when they weren't time compressed. Picture quality isn't important. I have tons to trade for these. Or will glady pay for the episodes I'm looking for. If you can help I'd be forever in your debt. Thanks.

Big Dave,
Hmm, that could be interesting. Wait, would
Hilda and Zelda come looking for Sabrina?
Yes, Salem could be outside on the ledge.
Wait, who zaps Salem there. He has no powers.
Unless, he still could have powers. Yes, thats
right Harvey does not smoke. Well, um what
could you use to prove her powers. Okay,
but don't the aunts know Harvey. You have
a really great idea. You could use something

Sue L: In my Sabrina episode that would be titled 'I, Harvey, Take This Witch, Sabrina' the lines spoken by Endora would be spoken by Hilda, Zelda, and Salem. In the original BW script, after Samantha reveals herself to Darrin it says the camera goes out a window as they are kissing to reveal a black cat sitting on the window ledge. In Sabrina that would be Salem. I also don't know how Sabrina would demonstrate her magic seeing as Harvey probably doesn't smoke. I just thought this would be good idea and a way for the present day witch-com to celebrate the original.

Endora: Well I guess I get some points for keeping your car in the feline family:) I'd settle for a Cougar too.... I really enjoyed last nights episode. It's one of the better ones from the second season. It had shades of 'Mixed Doubles' in it. I'm glad they choose to have David White play Darrin rather than Dick York play Larry. Poor Louise, thinking her husband is chasing after other women and not being considerate of her feelings. If she only knew the truth! I also must say that Irwin Charone, Larry's friend, has always been irritating to me whenever he showed up on BW. I'm glad he only had a few appearances. I liked this episode also because it showed a little that Endora had a soft spot for Darrin when Samantha tells her about finding out about her and Darrin's tears at Tabatha's birth. But, of course, in true Endora style she couldn't let it show too much, hence the pen-turned-to-frog gift she gave him.

I'll of course let you know when it's done and I hope you don't mind these updates as it's my attempt to make the theme better and better. I like the sounds to and it's a real challenge when there are so many to choose from!
All of the sounds in the theme come from the show.
Thank You...Dave

Hi All! I loved tonight's b/w BW--it gave David White a chance to shine as both Darrin and Larry and Irene Vernon did a superb job being perplexed.
SAM R: Thanks for the reminder, but unfortunately me cable system is primtive and does not carry Bravo--this calls for a spell from Endora! BREEN:Yes, Cassandra is a lovely name. And you can add my online store to your links because I do sell Bewitched videos and the books. here's the URL: http://judeswebmall.vstoremall.com/ Thanks to Ryan for adding the link to his BW newsletter!

TRULY EVERYONE: This is now the correct home email address....God bless you Randie, wherever thou mightst be....ENDORA: If you are wearing a long scarf while riding atop of the roof...(er um...I mean convertable, plleeeaassseee, do not do an Isadora Duncan.....! EDWINA & I were having way too much fun and yes, we was bad....Remember that movie with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor...." We's, bad...yes we's bad..." BTW, I watched that long ago show with EM called "PATTERNS" tonight, and she looked sooooo young! They interviewed some people connected with the show way back in '55, and one fellow said, " When it was such a powerful show that they called back the original cast to retape it, but to do it live", and this fellow said that Liz, thankfully was available to retape live along with the incredibly strong cast. I could not help but notice that EM's part was not a big one, but obviously they saw a talent giving birth...she was a mere 21 at the time...BW almost a decade away. I did notice also, that she was typing alot, my Gads!....Were not women 'born' typing...?

Endora: Since it sounds like so much fun having a nice new car (a Jaguar, no less) how about you go buy me one, too:) Mine's cursed. Probably one of Uncle Arthur's spells, no doubt. And he had to really be funny and make it not work every Thursday so it makes me look like a fool to my teachers and employers. I'd settle for a Mustang or a Jaguar. It's not a convertible, but I do still enjoy driving it from the back seat (like Aunt Clara in a "Very informal dress" remember?) It seems like "Encore" is being very good about showing EM stuff, although I think it should be on at a more convenient time! I also think they should give AM and EM equal time on their channel....

Hi everybody! This past weekend I bought 'the Wonder Years' love songs CD which has Boyce & Hart's 'I Wonder What She's Doin Tonite' on it plus some other great songs from the 60's. Heather Ann and I had our own little dance party. I highly recommend it. My Dad, who usually doesn't listen too much music, said he was going to steal the CD because he enjoyed it.

Sam R - thanks for the updates and the Bravo info - good stuff. My father usually watches every Bruins game (we have NESN, so if it's blacked out on the local channel, we can still see it), but for some reason we didn't watch that night and only heard about it later - I think it's a disgrace. He should have just had Endora turn the guy into a mouse or something. Sheesh!

My goodness Edwina and Sam R, you are having too much fun! AM didn't like watching sports, in fact when Willie Mays guested on BW she didn't even know who he was! However, in college, AM was captain of her school's field hockey team. (I hate field hockey, when I was forced to play it in high school I kept hitting people w/my stick and slamming the puck at their heads so I'd get penalties and be able to sit out...hey, maybe I can go play for the Bruins!!!) BTW, I bought a new car last night, black 1999 Cougar. Very nice. I'm trying not to think about the payment though! As you all know (because I'm a shameless self promoter) my birthday is coming up in a week (March 2). Anyway, last night my friend in Philly called me and said "I know your birthday is coming up and I started to get you an autographed picture of Agnes Moorehead, but then I decided I'd rather get you a present you could do something with so I bought you bondage bracelets instead." This of course is the same friend who two years ago bought me a porno movie for my birthday and told me, very seriously, "It's an ok movie, not much plot though." This friend is BW fan as well, her favorite character on the show is Serena and she's also a died in the wool EM fan. In fact, she was the one who called me a week or so ago and reminded me to watch "Legend of Lizzie Borden" on Encore. It had probably been 20 years since I'd seen it, and I was so impressed! Excellent film, stuck close to the story, and EM was just brilliant! If you haven't seen the movie yet, get it from Vic cause it's one of EM's best I think!

Oh, I forgot something of interest that is EM related.....Tomorrow night on the BRAVO! network they are showing a rare episode of "patterns", which is an Emmy-winning Rod Sterling TV play from 1955, which ran under the PLAYHOUSE 90 banner, although it originally aired as KRAFT TELEVISION THEATRE. A 21-year old Elizabeth Montgomery is a co-star in this production. Catch this if you can, as it is a rare occurance of Liz at such an early age. Oh yeah, it airs at 1 in the morning but check your listings in case it differs in your time zone....

(inside email joke)......Anyway, Hi Groovy, Bewitching dudes and dudesses. ENDORA: Thanks for making the announcement concerning my email address; much appreciated. Will let you all know soon what my new email is......BTW, an amusing thing at work today. Our boss has been very much a "Broomhilda" in the last while and has been riding my co-worker and myself pretty hard, to even to go as far as following us into the Ladies Room. Anyway, my co-worker whom I will call "Jeannie" as she is a big fan of IDOJ and myself who and no surprise here am a huge fan of BW were quietly working when our supervisor Broomhilda proceeded to walk out of the room when she suddenly tripped.....over nothing.....honestly, nothing was there in her path to trip over but she seemed to trip over the floor. As she had left the room, my co-worker and I looked at eachother and started to giggle.....I asked her if she had seen that mysterious 'trip' and she said she had but she had made it happen by 'blinking'....and then she did the Jeannie gesture. I then wriggled my lips and said, "and I twitched".....(what power).......!!

amusing to see Sabrina telling Harvey she
