Hi All: Last night I saw a Biography on Ida Lupino. I know she isn't entirely Bewitched related.....although, they did speak of her "various Directoral" talents, they did speak of some tragedies that befell Ida. I didn't realize there was as much tragedy in her life as was discussed by her daughter....Ida overcame a great deal. They spoke more on the topic of Ida Lupino being a trail blazer; a trend setter; a pioneer for other women; and as a director/producer "The mother of us all" Ida Lupino attempted the impossible for her day.... and made it easier in this day for a woman to be accepted as a director or producer...
She attempted the impossible not realizing it was impossible.... Ida did it because she liked it, her acting talents speak for itself... Ida Lupino directed A is for AArdvark "witch" is one of my favorite Bewitched episodes.... ahhhhhhh what a Dame!!!! {And as usual spelling doesn't count!!(BFE)

You're right, Sue, it was Sagal. Only I never made the connection with Boris Sagal, who directed 'A Case of Rape' and something else of Lizzie's too, but I can't remember what right now. Boris died in 1981 as a result of injuries caused by walking into the rotor blades of a helicopter while filming a movie. He was 58 and at the time he was married to Marge Champion. Yes, I do remember Bill Bixby. He had a pretty sad life too. His young son died, his mariage to Brenda Benet ended and she shot herself shortly thereafter, and about ten years later he himself died of prostate cancer I think. Just goes to show in the things that really matter in life, show business people are no more privileged than you and I. But let's end on a happy note ... it's Friday, which means ... weeeekendddd!!!

Skip, I have an answer to the twins. It is Jean &
Liz Sagal(Peg Bundy- Katey Sagal. She wears
a red hairpiece. Is nothing like Peg Bundy. I
only watched the show once. The dad was Boris
Sagal. I did not see the Vicki show that day,
but I saw quite of few of them! the cast from
the Carol Burnett show! Golden Girls too. I saw
Erin on a show after she had her youngest boy.
It is Charles Perez show I think. There was
MacKenzie Phillips and other child stars that
show. Bewitched looked really tired out at
the last season. It shows. I am anxious to see
E! I hope it is done well. Bill Bixby is on
8/15 10:00 California time. Remember him!

I have been looking over your site and I think it seems to be nice
I'm a big fan of Em and the rest of the actors and actresses who played on the show
But I haft to say I think they couldn't have picked a more wonderful person than EM to STAR in the show
I have seen most of her movies, and I could just sit and see them over and over again everyday.
There is a friend of mine on here I think you guys know him as Alex I'll be staying with Alex for a short time because I'm joining his coven, and
he told me I could stay with him until I get me Apartment fixed the way I want

Vic: The choice of pictures is excellent. I really enjoy the early publicity photos that capture a magic moment. Plus any photo of Serena is great. Thank you for taking the time out of your life to keep up such a great web page. Scott: Thank you also for taking time from your full schedule to provide entertainment for those of us addicted to BW. I enjoyed the new reviews and the choice of episodes reviewed, especially Sam's Psychic Slip. Dr. Bombay is very funny in this episode especially to Larry - "DO YOU MIND?! You're standing in the middle of the ectoplasmic vortex!"

Carolyn: Actually, you're right, there were two different busybodies, played by 3 different actresses: as Big Dave already told you, Sandra Gould took over the role of Gladys Kravitz after Alice Pearce died; but before Ms Gould took over, Mary Grace Canfield appeared in several episodes as Abner's sister Harriet, who was staying with Abner while Gladys was visiting her mother, according to the writers. - Vic/Scott: looking forward to reading the new reviews! - Bob: don't forget to congtulate Erin.

Carolyn: There were two different actresses who played the role of Gladys Kravitz. They were Alice Pearce in the first two seasons and Sandra Gould for the rest of the time. Ms. Pearce died of cancer during the run of the show which is why she was replaced. And just recently Sandra Gould passed away.

Hi Everybody! Just want to let everyone know "Vic's Bewitched Page" has been updated. There are new photos, sound wavs, sponsor openings, magazine covers & articles & EIGHT NEW Reviews! And if anyone is wondering about that new Screen Gems Network, Scott Viets (aka "The Bewitched Critic") was the one commisioned by Sony/Columbia Pictures to chose the episodes of Bewitched to be aired. So you can be pretty sure they'll be good ones. They will however be slightly edited, but by Screen Gems themselves. Different edits than before. "Vic's Bewitched Page" also pointed them in the right direction for the original Bewitched commercials that they will be showing. Stop by & check out the new updates on my site. Have a great day.

Broph: The "Vicki" show I referred to was broadcast April 30, 1993 (sorry, Endora, no reference was made to the anniversary of you-know-who's passing). The theme of the show was twins. Her other guests were Jean & Liz (don't recall the last name, but one of them I think was connected to Married with Children), and 2 actor brothers Matthew and Mitchell something (unfamiliar to me and I only paid attention to the Murphys). Everyone in the audience consisted of twins. Needless to say, I certainly wouldn't have taped it if I hadn't known Erin & Diane would be on. Then Dick Sargent came on as a 'surprise' (but to quote Maurice, "it was more in the nature of a shock!") Erin looked a lot younger than she does now, longer hair. I've never seen Diane before or since. Strangely, despite her dark rain, at times to me she looked more like the toddler Tabatha than Erin did (and Erin is the one whose face was mostly on screen).

I've gotten to know Endora pretty well during the last year. We've spent a few full days together eating, shopping, eating, picking out new pets, eating, driving, eating, watching baseball games, eating, etc. and I have to say that you just can't be annoyed with her love of AM when you can see that it's genuine. She may "jokingly" bring the conversation around to her, but the fact is, she does have a very real obsession/love/
admiration for her and I can only admire that kind of loyalty by one person for another. She also has good things to say about other people as well, but yes, she does pretty much have a one-track mind! (She also loves sushi.....yuck!)

Hi every one I would like to ask you a question
do you think a real 1164 Morning Glory Circle
(sam and Darrin house) can be built with the plan
on Adam 1164 Morning Glory Circle web site?
most of us know it was a fake for the show we
all know that outside at Burbank and inside
was at Sunset Gower Studios (which was called Columbia then)
I wish there was photo's of inside (behind the sences),
like the ceiling with light and camera's
and what it really was like , and where about's it was.

Heather Ann and Big Dave - good to hear that you guys are alright - BTW, we get NO tornadoes in Massachusetts! Marissa - hope the play goes well. Knock them dead, take no prisoners and break a leg (and all that horse hockey stuff). Skip - I was surprised to hear that both Murphys were interviewed by Vicki - I've only seen Erin on a couple of shows (though I did have the pleasure of meeting her mother). And I have to agree - season 8 was a time when Erin was able to really shine (lots of Tabitha in her first couple of seasons, then she had to bring Adam outside to play, then she started doing more just as the show ended!).

Endora boring? I would have to say not (and remember guys, I've met her in person)! As far as the whole preference/ranking stuff (and this isn't rules, just my 2 cents) - I personally don't really go for ranking people. Each actor has to go out there, deliver a set of lines under direction, with a whole lot of stuff going on in their lives. You may enjoy what one actor does on one day and hate what s/he does on another day. Or, like Endora, you may love every moment AM spent onscreen. But it really doesn't accomplish anything to rank the actors with the roles they played. I do realize that this gets into the whole DY/DS thing because they did play the same role (though some might argue that point). In any case, I think we've been there, done that and we're not getting anywhere discussing the merits of ranking the actors (unless you put Erin Murphy on top, of course).

Just to tell everyone about this tornado in Utah it is very strange that it happened at all. We only get like 5 or 6 teeny tornadoes a year. They're only like 50 mile winds or so. From what I heard on the news this one was 110 miles. It broke this huge crane that is part of the construction of the new assembly hall. Tons of trees were uprooted and lots of damage. Only one person so far has been confirmed dead, although earlier today they said four were. I just think God is trying to tell Salt Lake that we're not immune to things like this.

I also thought as I was watching "I Get Your Nanny..." that the client was quite similar to the one in the book "Bewitched: the Opposite Uncle". I've missed you guys! I've been SO busy getting ready for our play. Our first two were Friday and Sunday-sellouts!!! Hopefully our last three, friday, saturday and sunday will be the same. If anyone forgot,
I'm in the musical Damn Yankees. I have a 25 year old friend who is in it, starring in it. Actually, he became my friend when rehearsal started. his name is Andy Driscoll and he is famous! He's in Big Daddy, other movies, and is staring in Company Man, coming out in March.
He's so nice. He's a professsinal actor, and the director hired him-they're like best friends-to be in it. If you've ever heard of Ms. Saigon, he starred in the Broadway tour of it for 3 years! I'm telling you, this guy is seasoned!
He's also SO hot! He makes me laugh a lot too. All the rest of the cast is scared to talk to him because he's famous. But I'm just sitting there cracking ukp with him! He also released a CD that he was selling at rehearsal and gave me one for free, and signed it "To Gretchen, the funniest teenager I know." Love, Andrew Driscoll (Big A)
O.K. IF anyone wants to respond to this note, please do so. Actually, I want you to respond! XOXO

Mark: you'll soon realize that no one can cross Endora about AM and get away with it! I also agree with Big Dave - she's very entertaining, in a sick kind of way. And she'll never forgive DS for insulting AM, and neither will I. Not only did DS not have any chemistry with EM, but like Skip said, he didn't show any affection toward the kids, either (and certainly not Endora). I picked Ling Ling because she rules.

Mark: Before she was human, Ling Ling was a Siamese cat. The Ling Ling on this board has two Siamese cats, and is a big affecionado of the breed and so she gave herself the name Ling Ling after the cat, not the person. I had read EM liked Siamese cats too. AM kept cats on her farm but I don't know the breed, I think they were mostly strays, like the one she rescued from the set of Dear Dead Delilah....

Mark: Actually it was in 1964 that Disney released 'Mary Poppins'. But that's okay, because in '64 'Bewitched' started, and Elspeth, who was reminiscent of Mary Poppins, appeared on 'Bewitched'. She was played by Hermione Baddeley, who was superb in the 1951 British film "Scrooge". Totally different character. While I think that 'Nanny' episode is good, Elspeth drives me crazy. Later on, Hermione Baddeley ended up as Maude's maid with an attitude Mrs. Naugatuck. All in all, I think she fared best as Mrs. Cratchit (just my opinion of course). - Ling Ling: coincidentally, further to your discussion on Dick Sargent, I happened across a video tape of an April 1993 "Vicki" show on which Erin and Diane Murphy and Dick Sargent appeared. When Sargent came out, he gave the Murphys a big hug, and I thought, "Well there's a first! He never did that on the show." Anyway he did mention that it was a "joy" to work on 'Bewitched', no one ever fought, everyone got along, etc.etc. Then he did some grandstanding about his at-the-time recent outing. He didn't look very good. He had a weird hair cut and he was dressed rather sloppily. However, let me stress this is my opinion ... I am putting my standards on someone else ... but there again, I only have my own standards as a frame of reference. - It was weird watching that show now, when Vicki Lawrence asked him "What's Liz Montgomery up to now?" - just because now she's gone.

Long-Ling:I agree with you on the Dick Sargent thing and you are right this is a board for opinions-- I just felt that Endora got much to much defensive on the AM thing. I thought it was alittle overdone if you know what I mean-thats all.
BTW why did you choose Ling-Ling as a name. If I remember correctly, Ling Ling was a vey selfish character on BW- she was very nasty to Sam. Sam was extrememly happy to have zapped her back into a cat.

Mark: In regard to your statement that this is a board for opinions about Bewitched, I'd like to add that MY opinion is just as welcome as anyone's, including yours. To say that AM looked tired at the end of the series is ridiculous (my opinion). EVERYONE on the show was tired of the series by the 8th season, with the possible exception of Erin and or the twins who played Adam. The only cast member that remained true to form was AM. Many people have stated here (all opinions) that EM herself looked exhausted at the end of the series. And while we're on the subject of DS/DY, I agree with whoever said that article by DS was unfair. It certainly was, since he was not only insulting DY, but he had no reason for it. Of course he was glad to get the part after DY left the show (who wouldn't be?), but to constantly bring up in interviews that he was "the first choice" for Darrin (saying he couldn't do it because of other obligations) is pompous, and makes me think he had an inferiority complex. The chemistry between EM and DY was unmatched, and for DS to make it sound like EM had the hots for him is just plain RIDICULOUS. As far as I'm concerned, he had no tact, no comedic talent, and no class. But just to show you that I don't believe he is entirely without merit, I did see him in a few drama shows, and he was actually very good in them. This is my opinion, and if you don't agree with it, then I think you have some issues to get over.

Dave: is it a coincidence that Mary Poppins was out that same year (1968) that Elspeth came down with her umbrella? You're right it was a strange episode.

Mark: Frankly, I find Endora's devotion to AM quite entertaining no matter how sick it is. Everyone: I just watched the episode entitled "I get your nanny, you get my goat". What an odd episode all though I did enjoy it. Lord Montdrako has an uncanny resemblance to Walt Disney, Nanny Elspeth came in to the episodes just like Mary Poppins, Endora's first scene wardrobe looked like something she stole from Paula Abdul's early 90's closet (and I don't mean that in derision because, frankly, I enjoy Paula) and Sam and Darrin's saucy remarks to Larry ("We'll neck in the bushes). Also when I first saw this episode a couple months ago I didn't realize that the tour guide Samantha zapped up was EM until Montdrako asked why she was in that ridiculous outfit. It just goes to prove what an excellent actress EM is. I also read somewhere that the writers were thinking of making Elspeth a recurring character. Her whines when she found that Darrin was trapped in the mirror make me glad they decided not to.

My favourite seasons: 1, 3, 2, 4, 5, 7, 6, 8. I put 7 ahead of 6 because I really enjoyed the Salem shows more than many 6th season episodes; also I didn't like Liz's hair in the 6th season; to me it looked too much like a 'career woman's cut'. We've all talked to death about the 8th season and weaker scripts, Liz's desire to be anywhere but there, etc. etc. but there were some shining moments in the 8th season (although I haven't seen most of those episodes in over 20 years)... e.g. the Henry VIII shows were excellent, and Erin Murphy was really coming into her own as an actress, so her episodes were also good. I also enjoyed the Peter Lawford/Serena show (although I realize it was actually 'saved' from season 7). - Mark: regarding Endora, you may as well give up becaus you won't change her; just accept her as she is. I just roll my eyes when she starts deifying Agnes Moorehead. :-)

Hi Everyone ! Just thought i'd let you all know that my site "The Bewitched Who's Who" is one year old today ! Thanks to everyone for their support over the last year. A new addition is that of an interactive Flash Bewitched game. You'll need the Flash player (which is installed in most browsers) to try and help Darrin survive Endora's curse. It's a question and answer type thing, and i'm sure you'll all get the answers right first time, but try getting a few wrong, if only to see Durwood made miserable ! The game will resize to your browser window so you can play it at full screen if you wish. A little bit of fun which i hope you enjoy. Again many thanks for the support of my site.

Jeff: I did not like the 4th season scripts too much I actually liked the storylines in the 6th season better. The 4th season seemed grainy and dull as far as color and lighting go. Liz's hair did not look so well at the END of the 4th season. I thought the 6th was fresher looking (despite the new Darrin).
Endora: I think you have some serious issues you need to get over.

Mark: AM looked like the magnificent goddess she was right up until the last episode of the last season of BW. She died April 30, 1974, two years after the show had completed it's run. As for her being tired, AM was never tired. Even toward the end of her life her energy astounded people. She blew the cast of Gigi (her last show) away because even w/a grueling travel schedule, she was never fatigued, never late, and totally unflappable (like the time the set fell over and everyone froze, AM spoke, in character for five minutes until the stagehands were able to right everything and the show could continue). Joseph Cotton once said of AM "anyone who appeared w/her was just window dressing, including me." Ok Ling Ling...your turn....

I like the third season for the color, music, brilliance of all the actors, and I love the scripts. To me the third season was Bewitched at its best!!! Guys - just got into work, so just a quick note for now. Sam R - thinking of you guys as always - keep the faith! CALIFORNIA PEOPLE - OK, you know that Kasey Rogers and Bernard Fox will be at the Hollywood Autograph Show in October? Well, they'll also be at this show (sorry about the short notice - I JUST found out): http://www.rhinorecords.com/retrofest/event.html . It's Rhino's RetroFest August 13, 14, 15 in Los Angeles. While Erin Murphy won't be there, Kasey, Bernard as well as Linda Blair, Erin Gray, Gil Gerard, and many others. BE SURE TO CHECK THE SCHEDULE BEFORE YOU GO - http://www.rhinorecords.com/retrofest/schedule.html . I also read on that page that Missing Persons and Berlin (I think it will be the bands - details on that page are sketchy). Kasey and Bernard will be there Sunday. Check it out if you can!

Esmeralda: you are right! I remember reading an article a few years back and DS said that he didn't know why DY left but he was just glad that he did. DS knew exactly what was going on I thought that that was an unfair statement. In my opinion there will be only one Darrin and you know who that is. Also, I remember reading that that AM once said regarding the replacement that the producers shouldn't have tampered with perfection (meaning the York/Montgomery/Moorhead team). AM did not warm up to DS to quickly. I do feel bad for him sometimes though I feel he really did try his best. The relationship between DS/EM-DY/EM were entirely differant. The feel of the show changed so much in 1969.

Ling-Ling: this is a message board and I am just stating my opinion. I don't think anyone has watched Bewitched more than me (this is exagerated of course) and I consider it my favorite TV show of all time (past & present) with regard to the Munsters but I do not want you to feel I am trashing the show. True everyone was bored toward the end but who wouldn'nt be and as far as AM she looked a little tired, she has aged and if I remember correctly died only a few years after BW. So as far as the show goes it was great.
I am also a fan of Vic's page and a bigger fan of his 1164 page and have contributed to some of the bloopers. Once again I am glad to see the 3rd season showing now and my favorite seasons are:

Good evening everyone. SCH: I'm so glad that you had an 'intoxicating' birthday with your better half. Good on you. BROPH and BIG DAVE: You guys 'are just terrific. Major thanks. EVERYONE: I don't want to impose but I just would ask that you all continue to pray for my stepfather Jorgen. The prognosis originally looked good after the surgery for the removal of the malignant tumor in his saliva glands on the left side of his neck. Now he has been told as of yesterday that they could not get it all and that they have to start radiation treatment asap. They are giving him a 50/50 recovery chance. I am optimistic. He is a strong man and even though he is depressed by this temporary latest setback, he is ready for the fight of his life and is prepared to meet it head on. He is overwelmed by the support of all of you and the kindness of strangers that he has never met nor spoken to. The whole family and their friends are so grateful for any continued prayers that you might give. "Where ever there are two or more of you gathered in prayer, there I AM in the midst of them." I think that's right, if not, I know that all of you know what I mean. Thanks all and a peaceful goodnight.

I'd like to add to Endora's voice that AM's performance in anything she did was NEVER under par. She was known in Hollywood circles to be a trouper, a pure professional, and a brilliant actor. Just because she was given "less than par" material at the end of the run of Bewitched (everyone else was, too), doesn't mean she wavered from her performance at all. Also, does anyone REALLY think that DS and EM were more "kissy kissy" than DY and EM? Talk about less than par! EM looked as if getting through the kissing scenes with DS was a chore - something she never exhibited with DY. Now that's acting...

HELLO!!!! Everyone!!!!!! I'd like to Thank Everyone for the nice Birthday Witches that were sent my way!!!!!! (I'd have responded sooner, however, GTE had major 'backbone' problems and everything was down from 8-5-99 until, today, 8-10-99.) PRINCESS: THANK YOU very much for the absolutely fabulous gifts!!!!! I have already enjoyed them! Scott, too! For my b/day, I was taken to a local Mexican restr. where I drank a 45 oz. margarita.....by myself!!! I also ordered food, witch was great! (I definitely needed some food to absorb some of the margarita!) After two hours there, next it was onto the opening (YES!! it is true....! We actually had a major motion picture 'open' here, on opening day!) of Mystrey Men. I guess I had too much to drink, as the entire movie was a total mystrey to me!!!!! It might have been the wine we drank after the restr, but before the movie. Almost the witching hour when the movie was over, we flew to the Cosmos to find Serena! stirring up a bit of trouble! We danced until dawn (I had almost forgotten what smog-free air was like!) and then flew home to prepare for our day! All in all, it was a GREAT day! Thanks, again for all of the great gifts, emails, and cards! Much Love.... D n S.

Mark: I saw a huge billboard advertising Canada's 'Girl Power Hour' on the Prime cable network, with the cartoon rendering of Elizabeth Montgomery and Barbara Eden. It's not a very good version, quality-wise, of the cartoon figures, but it's neat that after almost 30 years, 'Bewitched' is still being advertised in such a big way.

I'm very glad we have eight seasons of BW and I do understand why EM would want to leave after that many. It must've been very hard work for her, not just doing a sitcom but a sitcom with SPECIAL EFFECTS. I think all who were involved on BW had a great deal of patience. Endora: I was thinking of a spell to deal with the thiefs and decided they should have to hang on a nail at the Hawthorne so everyone can see what losers they are for being kleptomaniacs!

Esmerelda you are exactly right. I really love EM and would probably have missed an 8th season if there was never one. The cast was extremely supurb but it was getting boring for everyone on the set. Even the writers could not come up with anything fresh. I do not blame the cast for their feelings-especially EM who naturally had to appear in every episode.Out of everyone it had to be the MOST tiresome for her. I agree with the York/Sargent thing. Even though Sargent was more kissy kissy with EM, York/Montgomery was much more romantic and sexy--Dick York was an excellent actor. Sargent was a good replacement and I am sure it must have been difficult to fill York's shoes besides he was so cocky. BTW I am so glad that N@N is back to season three. I really love the freshness of the earlier episodes, the music, lighting, color etc. I just wish it was on earlier.

Alex: We all have our special favorites among the BW cast. Saying this person is more talented than that person is pointless, and will just lead to trival (and ultimately dull) "my favorite is better than your favorite" type arguments on the board. Why risk hurting/angering someone over what is really just a matter of personal opinion? BW had one of the finest, most talented casts of any sitcom before or since. Let's just leave it at that and discuss something more interesting/productive, like what type of nasty spells we're going to cast on the evil being who stole the BW pictures from the Hawthorne....

Lately I've been reading your posts about the quality of Bewitched
& I have mixed emotions, firstly I woul,d take these in to account!
1}Do you think after 8 years doing the same thing may get a littlke tiresome and boring
2}It was the seventies the time of free love and peace, with a spoonful of hippy medicine!!
Some of you people on the board may be Sargent fans but haven't you read bewitched just after York left and he came dropped
rapidly out the ratings game!I aslo dislike him because of the nasty comments made in an article
I read he said that " Liz had I always wanted me" as in instead of Yorks Darrin. He also said
that he did more kissy actions with Liz - SURE!! every episode Liz & York would kiss!
& In respect with Yorks Darrin it caused sexual tension!! - in a good way!!

I don't agree with you I don't think any of the shows went down hill
I think they just kept getting better. EM could take the worst lines and turn it into something wonderful
She was the key to the show she is what made it swing along with the help of the others, but she was out in front of everyone else as far as talent goes, and AM was running a close second, and poor old Aunt Clara was in 3rd place.
I never thought that much of either Darrin.their I haft to have it my way or else parts didn't fit into the show

Endora: I think you ought to be more realistic. Everyone knows that by the 8th season they all have had it. I remember reading somewhere that AM did a radio interview sometime after BW ended and she said that the show has gone on longer than it should, as she referred to it as a pretty long stretch. Like I wrote earlier, after the Salem episodes, things slowly started to go downhill-especially EM's performance-- by the end of the 7th season she did not look so good. Only her Serena character stayed the same. Don't get me wrong, I will still watch the 8th season, there were some good moments, but they could have done without it. My favorite seasons are (in order) are:

I too think Agnes Moorhead contributed so much to Bewitched. Her acting was supurb and so was her timing. Only on some rare weak script occasions, her performance was under par--but so was everyone elses! Her delivery was the BEST!!. I sometimes think about some of the things she used to come out with on Bewitched and that really makes me laugh.

I'm sure that I will be working but maybe I can get someone to tape it for me. I thought the show was more sophisticated in the first few episodes, too. So, I didn't get on this thing. Don't be angry :) Endora, conjure up a spell for some rain here or the cracks will swallow up Moorehead Manor and its elaborate gate! Not to get anyone's hopes up or anything but on my break I went to call Columbia House to see if my REALLY late payment had posted for the last two videos of the twenty we know about. She told me that my payment had posted and another volume would be sent shortly. I asked her if she could tell me the title of the video but she said after a few seconds of vigorous typing and waiting that that section of her computer wasn't working, but it looked as though another video was going to be sent shortly. I really hope so, all though I doubt it. Opening the mail box to find a video was like a little bit of Christmas morning every month. Maybe if we all got together and decided what episodes they should put together for even an additional ten tapes they would do it...

SCH: A majorly Happy Birthday and chock full of blessings to you ! Have a Bewitchingly good time for whatever you do! Anyone: I am confused. What is this E! show on the 22nd. I thought at first it was Entertainment Tonight that was being refered to. Is that what it's called, "E"? Please advise.....and if we don't get it up here in Canada, could someone be so nice to tape it for me, pretty please...? (Endora said it much better.)

Broph: That poor Lisa Whelchel, God love her. She's probably wishing she had never heard of the Blair Witch project. Frankly I had a crush on her when she was on Facts of Life. I saw an interview with her a couple months ago and I think she is a stay at home mom in TX or something. Mark:I agree with you when you say that BW seemed more classy and sophisticated in the first season. I enjoyed the special effects in those episodes as well as episode #253 when Samantha is invisible. I also thought it was pretty cool in 'Paris, Witches Style' when Maurice is seen as black blob of smoke. If they hadn't pulled camera back so fast it would've looked really spectacular.

I think the best special effect Bewitched had were the ones used in episodes #4 (Endora),
#10 (Maurice, and at one point, Darrin). That puff of smoke followed by flames was the best. For 1964, that was a pretty good effect for tv.
It is a shame they never used it again. I guess they were trying to draw viewers and special effects were a BIG part of that show.
Another good one in episode #9 when Sam disappeared back to Paris after having an arguement with Darrin--she fades out followed by a big gust of wind. That was also used in the episode where Darrin dreams of how his children would be like in "And Something Makes Three".
In the first season, Bewiched was more "classy" & "sophisticated".

I just read on bewitched.net that Screen Gems is launching a broadcast network which will showcase their shows. It says that BW and IDOJ will kick it off. On the topic of E!: We at the Bewitched Board have to be poised and ready to attack with email, letters, phone calls, and excessive magazine subscriptions sent to E! corporate offices if that show does not live up to our expectations. It is unfair to the US, the fans of Bewitched, for a network to interview the remaining cast and their family members, then produce a trashy piece of sensationalized journalism. There's enough of that crap in the world already. It would be an especially hard blow for fans, because the Interviewees will be less likely to speak for cameras in the future if they perceive that a negative product could result from their efforts.
I've said that, so now must say this, in no instance should we be caught ASSUMING that E! will do harm to the Bewitched legacy. That would be prejudice, which is a nasty, mortal quality. Regardless of E!s position, I know how I feel and they have not within their power to change that!
I love you all, and I think we're all In On A Very Special Secret, and neither E! Entertainment Television, nor Columbia/Sony Pictures, nor Tom Cruise and/or his lovely wife in some semi-Bewitched rip-off movie can ever take away what we already have. We take it with us, everywhere we go.

I have seen Hippie Hippie Hooray a couple of times and I have noticed that sometimes it has a laugh track and sometimes it does not-- I do not know the reason. About E! the true story I do not expect no more than trashing the show. I doubt ththat E! will tell ALL good stuff for 2 solid hour. E! thrives on disheartening viewers, especially on a fantasy show like Bewitched. One more thing- I do not like watching the 8th season of Bewitched. The storylines are rehashed and dull and it is obvious that EM does not want to do this anymore. Actually the 6th season was the best for Darrin #2, after the Salem episodes in season 7, it went downhill, especially for EM. It seems to me that after the Salem Sagas, her performance has changed drastically.

Herbie Pilato says in 'Bewitched Forever' that in episode 128 ('Hippie Hippie Hooray') there is no laugh track. I just watched it, and there definitely is a laugh track. Could he be referring to another episode? But if so, which one? I don't recall any 'Bewitched' episodes without a laugh track.

Big Dave: I too have my doubts about the E! project. Mostly because I was told that the Brady Bunch one spent more time discussing Robert Reed's sexuality than anything else. To be fair I didn't see it, but the person who told me about it is above reproach and I believe her. To answer your questions about AM's pets...she had three dogs, two poodles, Dusa and Sara (Sara was Dusa's puppy), and a bulldog named Cluny after AM's character in The Singing Nun. On her farm she had several cats (no record of their names) and an Appaloosa horse named Endora.

E!'s True Hollywood stories are pretty good actually. I watch them all the time. I was watching the Brady Bunch one and it dealt with good times and bad times on the set. I'm sure they'll talk about good and bad, and the cast changes on BW. I'm getting more anxious for it. They'll probably have interviews with Erin, Kasey, maybe Sandra Gould because it was made before she died, I think.

I haven't had a chance to check with the Hawthorne about the missing pictures yet. Two of the pictures were just head shots - and as Endora would tell you, she didn't care for one of them. The other picture (or pictures) was an account of behind the scenes of a time when Bewitched came to Salem. There are still some artifacts from that time - and the Hawthorne is a great place to visit in any case. In the meantime, I have to deal with a painful e-mail I just opened up - Endora knows what I mean.

This whole BW thing on E!, is it a trash talk thing or what? I tried to look on the E! site for something more about the show. It seems that they are doing similar things about the Brady Bunch and Batman about how the actors had a heyday and then fell into a rut after the show ended. I hope they only say uplifting things of BW. I may be mistaken but this is what I'm thinking it is...

If you said that those pictures have been up for 27 years, and the towns folk didn't bother them, I doubt it was a resident of Salem. I bet it was some person who was vacationing and thought they would be pretty cool if they got to take home a piece of great memorbilia. Endora - those Gloucester people really know how to secure those statues. But then again, the statue has moved since EM and crew have been there, so you never know. I will ask, though, in case the pictures just were out for cleaning or something like that. I'm sure you won't mind if the DS picture is still missing, though. BTW, I started the update for the listing of August episodes - http://broph.homesite.net/ErinMurphy/bewitchedsched.html . I still have to pretty it up and link to The Bewitched Critic for the episodes, but I did what I could last night. SPECIAL NOTE - On August 8 they're showing "Divided He Falls" on TV LAND! I don't know what this means, but it seems to be an isolated incidence for now. They're going to show the last couple episodes over the next week and start again on August 10 with (you guessed it) the color episodes starting with #75 (Erin and Diane's debut). Good to hear from you, Girl. May your prombles disappear.

HI everyone.. I keep running into people who saw the Blair Witch thing and Iherd that it was a joke but not in the funny way.
They will put anything thing on TV anymore just to make a buck.
It sound to me like every time something goes wrong in that town that they can't explain they blame it on a with that died a very long time ago.
IF a spirit wanted to take revenge on a town it would do it all the time not just every 50 years or so.
Endora sorry to here about your pictures I hope they are found I bet if you find them they would be better off being found by the Blair witch than you Ha Ha.
Later people may you all have a good one talk to you next time around.

Broph: No No No! They can't take that picture! Call out the National Guard! Search the home of every BW fan in the country until the tribute is replaced...what kind of vile creature would do such a thing? I'll bet the picture turns up for sale on ebay! I took a train in from Cambridge to Salem in subzero weather just to see that picture....if I find out who stole it they will wish subzero weather is ALL they have to deal with! If it's anyone w/in range of this message board, I will be in Salem from October 16 through the 24th, at the Hawthorne. If you value your life the picture had better be there then too....P.S. Broph, find out whatever details you can, I say we take up a collection for a reward. I'd also like to smack the people at the Hawthorne for not securing it better (like w/a mechanism that shoots and kills instantly anyone who dares to try and steal it), but I guess after 27 years of no one bothering it they didn't think they needed to do anything special...sigh. I think I'm going to cry now.....

Very strange - I got something in the mail today, but it had nothing to do with The Corrs - rather, it had something to do with Marion Lorne and I found myself oddly pleased! Thanks Sam R - I hope you and yours are doing well. Endora - some bad news! There are 3 pictures missing at the Hawthorne Hotel! I know there's one picture you won't miss, but EM's headshot and the color photo of her greeting the Salem crowd are not hanging in the hall - you know where. You can even still see the nail holes in the wall! I fear someone has absconded with the pics, though I was surprised that the thief didn't take the framed menu, script or copy of the thank you note that EM sent after staying at the Hawthorne. Other than that, the wedding reception was quite nice.

Hi gang! I noticed on today's reruns on Fox Family of The Partridge Family(produced by Screen Gems, like Bewitched was)--the original theme song was restored to the first season's episodes and they showed the Screen Gems logo at the end. So who knows, maybe eventually Bewitched will get its original theme songs restored too! One can always hope! Personal to Sam R: Praise the Good Lord on the progress on Jorgens' health--e-mail if you feel like talking--I'm here for you!

I know that you can request the coroners report
too. But I don't think that is good. It is a
privacy thing. I would only read about the
people & see what I can find for information
but whatever the sources are-some say one age
& some say another.
The almanacs usually list it for the year & if
you get the latest one it will give alot of
other info. It is kind of spooky to get the
coroner's report and also the copy of the
death certificate. What is age? I am probably
one of the oldest ones here unless someone else
is older.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou......everyone. I don't know why we are surprised when these things happen, when we pray and ask God to make them better, and when it does get better, we are amazed. He was supposed to be in hospital for at least a few more days. I can not thank you all enough for all your prayers and warm thoughts. You all have most encouraging to my Mother, as this has obviously been a very trying time for her, also to Jorgen, who has been equally astounded at the kindness of strangers that he has never met. This is TOTALLY off the topic of Bewitched, but I noticed that some of you were talking about the South Park movie awhile ago. Some of you might be interested that in a British magazine, it said that the new movie has been named the most profane movie ever made, according to the US survey company Media Index. Hi Everyone: Rita asked me to give an update to Jorgen. As of 10:45 P.M., Pacific Jorgen was in Recovery. They had a lot to do....remove cancerous cysts, blood vessels nerve and neck tissue. They are analyzing everything for further information. They are not sure, but the believe the cancer has NOT spread to his optic nerve or brain. Rita’s mother remains beside herself with worry.... (Wait, let's all act surprised) Please add "Mom" to the prayer list currently going up (I know Mom is already part of the prayer list, just want to cover bases) Rita is trying to remain optimistic....I know Rita is already on your prayer list. But why worry about what her age was in any case. Sure, she wasn't a spring chicken, but I think that guest appearing on "Veronica's Closet" showed that she was still up for the challenge of sinking her teeth into a new acting gig. Had it not been for some health complications, we may have seen SG entertaining us with other roles. Look at Dick Wilson - the man who played one of our favorite drunks - he's come out of retirement to entertain us in a new series of commercials. Sure, I don't think he's said "the line" yet, but we all know what's coming. It's like the new Starkist commercials - even though they don't say his name, we all know it's "Charlie". It's just a pity that we lost SG at this time. May she rest in peace.

Endora m'dear if I didn't know you better I'd really take offense at the odious comparison you made of me to that person who digs up people's social security info which is a blatant invasion of privacy when I distinctly mentioned in my post that I respect people who conceal their ages as a matter of privacy. As for the rest of the discourse on Ms Gould's age, I was merely telling Sue L what I'd read. And then I said I find blatant lies irritating. THAT warrants a comparison with you know who??? Of course the fact that one of the records she pulled belongs to someone who was born roughly 30 some years before social security existed, and is INCORRECT obviously means nothing, since it's apparently more important to certain people to try and posthumously humiliate somebody....

Sue L: Sandra Gould was married to Hollingsworth Morse. (Maybe his full name was John Hollingsworth Morse, I'm just guessing.) Where did you read she was 79? In the LA Times obituary, they say she was mid-70's, and reading between the lines, from what they say she was 75 or 76 (they mention that she was in some play with Montgomery Clift when she was 11 & he was 15, and he was born in 1920, so according to them she would have been born 1924). I tend to think she was probably 79. I once saw her in an I Love Lucy show and she looked to be in her mid-30s at least, and that was a 1956 episode. Anyhow ... whatever. I don't know why people make such a fuss about their age, anyway. It isn't as though you actually get younger by hiding it. On the other hand, perhaps she just considered it a point of privacy, which I can respect. But I admit it irritates me when they overtly lie about their age. Still, to each his own. :-)

Tituba-loved your poem and thanks for the birthday greeting! My beloved gave me a Bewitched comic book, cast picture, a EM mouse pad and picture-quite a Bewitching birthday!
Since someone mentioned doing a "Next Generation" type show for Bewitched and the general consensus is that a computer-simulated show sounds promising, Paramount was able to incorporate scenes from the original Star Trek series into an episode of the Next Gen., so why can't somebody make us some new Bewitched episodes using that technology? Wow! That's the longest sentence I've ever come up with!

Endora - thanks for the news. I did just check the LA Times Web site and found their obituary for SG - http://www.latimes.com/search/findcgi?action=View&VdkVgwKey=%2E%2E%2F%2E%2E%2Fvol7%2FCNS%5FDAYS%2F990724%2Ft000065938%2Ehtml&DocOffset=1&DocsFound=7&QueryZip=gould&Collection=Hunter&ViewTemplate=search3%2Ehts (sorry it's so long - you can actually just go the www.latimes.com and search for "Gould"). The page that comes up first lists a "Paul Flato" - just scroll down and you'll see SG's obituary right after his - no line break or anything.

Vic: I was so glad to see your post! Please let Scott know how much we appreciate all the great reviews he has done. I must say again how much I love your site! Broph: Thanks to you, too, for this awesome message board!

Skip: Oh, you would know if it were me working with you. I'm sure the big Dave you know doesn't whine as much as I do about being at work. Victor: Tell Scott that my heart goes out to him for holding not one, not two, but THREE JOBS?!!! I have a hard enough time believing that I have to have ONE job. It's like my dear friend Bonnie said when I met her in Maryland. "There are two people born in this world: those that are born to serve and those that are born to be served. I happen to fall in the latter category." And I replied, "You too?" Somehow I keep falling into the previous category:)

Some random thoughts (as if I have any other kind): Anyone remember what was happening a year ago at this time? Did I EVER mention that my father's first name is Dick?! I wonder if he could have filled in years ago - back then he looked a bit like DY with a mustache! A Bewitched Movie (or series) - I thought they had a good idea with the "Tabitha" series, but just couldn't pull it off - a grown-up Tabitha living life on her own. There could never be another Endora and would we really want another Samantha? Bewitched had a number of cast changes over the years (Erin Murphy and Kasey Rogers both replaced people and became well known in their roles - not to mention multiple Darrins, etc.). Even Bernard Fox and Paul Lynde were on the show as different characters before filling the roles for which they were well known. There have been a number of shows in the past few years dealing with magic/updated stories. Sabrina has endured while "you wish" and "teen angel" fell by the wayside. Sabrina, of course, deals with a witch living in the mortal world - much as Bewitched showed Samantha living. Why not have an updated, "Next-Generation" kind of show?

Edwina - the only promble with that type of magic is that it kept me from reading the other posts - once again there were some magical words from Tituba; I was finally able to read some more about the Marion Lorne play at 10pm instead of 10am; I got to check out a site posted by DNS (SCH, what's in a name?!). BTW, Vic - thanks for sharing the info about the E! True Hollywood story - I'm sure a lot more people will be able to enjoy it now. Of course we love the Bewitched Critic Reviews and will always hope for more. I did notice the recent changes to the site and can tell you that the main ingredient in Websites is time. Of course, a welcome to all the newcomers - but then again, Tituba's welcome is always one of the nicest.

Vic: Thanks for the info regarding the E! special and Scott's forthcoming reviews. I'm looking forward to both! - Edwina: thanks, but I just had a cup. Excellent. And yes she took the spell off me
